Environmental Initiatives

At Natures Way Foods we are committed to recycling and other initiatives designed to limit our impact on the environment.

Highlights of our achievements so far include:

  • Over 98% of our wash water is filtered and used to irrigate crops
  • Whole pallets are sold for reuse
  • Soft plastic is recycled to make plastic pipes and hard plastic crates are sold for reuse
  • Clean chemical drums are returned to suppliers for reuse
  • Bulk liquid where possible is delivered in returnable containers
  • Wellington boots are collected by The European Recycling Company
  • We recycle/compost over 94% of all our raw material waste
  • All our green waste goes to composting to make soil improver
  • All waste metal goes for recycling
  • Cardboard boxes and office paper of all sizes are sold to mills for recycling
  • Scrap wood and broken pallets are sent for board manufacture
  • All ink cartridges and IT equipment are recycled
  • Our other ongoing environmental initiatives in the community include:

    • Investigation into using renewable fuel (wood) for electricity generation
    • Reducing packaging for all our products
    • Calculation of our carbon foot print and reduction of carbon emissions
    • A strong Corporate Social Responsibility Policy (CSRP)
    • Assessment of all new projects ensuring minimum impact on the environment
    • Environmental awareness training for all employees
    • Encouraging transport companies to use green fuels
    • Consolidation of our lorries and deliveries for distribution efficiency
    • Introduction of environmental strategies in all our associated companies and activities
