Keeping it Green
As English Elm trees are greatly threatened throughout the UK, Natures Way Foods has launched a preservation project to maintain the existing row of elms at the Selsey site.
Financial and environment resources have been focused on preserving the elm tree hedge along the Chichester Road boundary at the east of the Natures Way Foods buildings.
Working closely with a specialist tree surgeon, the project has included the removal of dead and diseased elm trees, topping off good healthy ones and filling the gaps with traditional tree species like oaks. Unfortunately, it has not been possible to plant English Elm as they are very susceptible to Dutch Elm disease.
